Japanese natives Anna and Hank Saito opened Akira in Solon, Ohio in 1998. They moved to Solon from New York City, where they operated a Japanese restaurant and supper club in Manhattan. Like many couples who now call Ohio home, the Saitos moved to Solon for its family-friendly environment, a place to raise their two children.
They also selected Solon as the location for their next restaurant experience, Akira.
“Authentic, affordable Japanese cuisine with a twist,” is how proprietor Anna Saito describes the Akira experience. “A place where serious sushi connoisseurs and newbies alike can enjoy the best at the sushi bar and families and couples can enjoy the excitement and tastes of hibachi-table cooking.”
Japanese dining is about subtle details — fresh spices, the right oils, the freshest fish, the best sushi rice, and the finest cuts of beef available — all prepared by skilled professionals trained in time-honored methods. This is Akira — the area’s true Japanese dining experience.
